Bradford College Gold Club Awards (August 2009)
At Bradford College we do our best to reward and encourage high achieving students. Last week we held an award ceremony for the ‘Bradford College Gold Club’. The Bradford College Gold Club is for the top 10 students who achieved the highest marks in their entire cohort.
The students were treated to a special assembly where they were presented with certificates and commemorative key-rings. They also had a special morning tea where they met the CEO of Kaplan Australia, Mr. Neil Shilbury who spoke to them about the importance of working hard to achieve your goals.
Bradford College Foundation Studies graduation ceremony (July 2009)
On Wednesday 1st July, Bradford College held its Foundation Studies graduation ceremony to honour the achievements of our July intake graduating students. It was a great event, especially for the 56 Foundation Studies students who celebrated the end of their schooling before starting university in late July.
In opening the ceremony the Principal of Bradford College, Wendy Teasdale-Smith, addressed the graduands and spoke about how despite the global economic crisis there were signs of optimism and recovery and how the graduating students represented this optimism for the future. Also presenting was a previous Bradford College Foundation student, Stella Su Mon Soe who is now studying Nursing at the University of Adelaide, and Tom Zhang, Branch Manager at National Australia Bank who was an international student in Adelaide many years ago. The attendees were also entertained by classical pianist, Sing Ieng (Ines) Lei.
Congratulations must go to all the graduands of the Foundation Studies program.
Foundation Studies Graduation Ceremony (December 2008)
On Wednesday 17th December, Bradford College held its Foundation Studies graduation ceremony to honour the achievements of our graduating students.
It was a thoroughly enjoyable event, especially for the 108 Foundation Studies students who celebrated the end of their schooling before starting university next year.
In opening the ceremony, the Principal of Bradford College, Anne Field, addressed the graduands and spoke about how small achievements and small ideas can often lead to big things. Also presenting was a previous Bradford College Foundation Studies dux, Kiran Ram Belas who talked about her experiences after graduating from Bradford College and studying Medicine at the University of Adelaide. The attendees were also entertained by classical musical group, the ‘Elder Trio’.
Congratulations must go to all the graduands of the Foundation Studies program and the award recipients including: Xian (Mia) WEI for ‘most improved female student’, Joosheel JOHARI JOGANATHAN for ‘most conscientious male student’ and Yunyun HENG as ‘dux’ of the Foundation Studies 2008 cohort. Student break-dance party (October 2008)
On Friday October 31st Bradford College hosted a ‘break-dance party’ to mark the end of the Degree Transfer orientation week. Almost 100 students attended and filled the student common room for a fun night of entertainment which was provided by the College.
Students enjoyed a break-dancing demonstration put on by a local break-dance club with a few students also participating. We also held the ‘Bradford College table tennis championships’ with students taking out trophies for best male and female singles and doubles teams. The students also relaxed and listened to the jukebox & karaoke machines supplied for the night.
The event was a great success with students and staff enjoying each others company. Please see the photos of the night on our College Photos page.
The event is a great opportunity for the students to get together and have fun and relax before the Degree Transfer classes start.
Degree Transfer Program Orientation week (October 2008)
The team at Bradford College were busy welcoming over 170 new Degree Transfer students who join us this week from all over the world.
Orientation week commenced on Wednesday October 29th with our Program Manager, Mrs. Cathy Davies formally greeting the students. Cathy shared her advice for academic success, settling into a new environment and managing culture shock with our new students.
Some of the activities for orientation included taking our new students on tours of the campus at the University of Adelaide and the College, meeting teachers, course counselling, selecting subjects and receiving University student cards.
To mark the end of Degree transfer orientation week, Bradford College hosted a break-dance party on Friday night to give students the opportunity to have fun and make new friends – you can view the photos of the event on our College Photos page.
Adelaide University Scholarship Recipient (July 2008)
Bradford College is proud to announce that last week our July 2008 Foundation Studies program dux graduand, Eric Fan Yang was awarded the prestigious
‘Adelaide Outstanding Achiever Scholarship International’ (AOASI) from the University of Adelaide .
About a handful of the AOASI scholarships are awarded every year to international students based purely on academic merit prior to them commencing their University of Adelaide program. The scholarship covers the full tuition fee for the duration of the degree program.
Eric will now have the tuition fee for his four-year Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical and Electronic) degree covered by the scholarship (worth approximately AUD$100,000).
Eric spoke highly of his time at Bradford saying, “The Foundation Program at Bradford really helped me greatly in every aspect of my life in Australia . I have to say all the Bradford staff have done a great job”.
The Bradford College staff are tremendously proud of Eric's achievement and we know he will go on to realise many more accomplishments throughout his academic career.
Foundation Studies Graduation Ceremony (July 2008)
On Wednesday July 2nd, the mid-year Foundation Studies graduation ceremony was held. It was a very enjoyable event, especially for the 31 students who graduated.
In opening the ceremony, the Principal of Bradford College, Anne Field, addressed the graduands with words of advice about how to make the most of their future.
There were also another two speakers, previous students Zheyang (Jackie) Lin and Xin-Lin (Chloe) Lim who talked about their experiences after graduating from Bradford and studying at the University of Adelaide. They spoke candidly and gave their valuable advice for succeeding at university.
Congratulations must go to all the graduands of the Foundation Studies program and the award recipients including: Stephney Cotterill for ‘most conscientious female student’, Yuexing Wu for ‘most conscientious male student’ and Eric Fan Yang as ‘dux’ of the cohort. Fast Food Friday (May 2008)
On May 30th we held ‘Fast Food Friday’ at Bradford College. Over 300 students attended and filled the student common room for a fast food dinner which was provided by
the College.
Students enjoyed pizza, burgers and doughnuts for two hours and relaxed and listened to the jukebox supplied for the night.
Many of the staff and students agreed that the event was a great opportunity for students to get together and have fun and relax before they approach the busy exam period.

Degree Transfer Bridging Semester Awards (February 2008)
On the 25th of February, Bradford College held an awards ceremony for the Degree Transfer students to celebrate the completion of their bridging semester. Deputy Principal Makarand Parulkar awarded students subject prizes for achieving the highest mark in each subject, these included physics, chemistry, mathematics, English, statistics, economics, engineering maths and computing. Dux of the Degree Transfer bridging semester was awarded to Nell Ye NI who scored top marks in economics and statistics as well as excellent scores in her other subjects. Foundation Studies Orientation Week (February 2008)
The team at Bradford College have been busy welcoming over 120 new Foundation Studies students who have joined us this week from all around the world.
Orientation week commenced on Monday 4th of February with our Principal, Anne Field formally greeting the students. Anne shared her advice for academic success and settling into a new environment. Please visit our College Photos page for some photos of the event.
Some of the activities this week have included taking our new students on tours of the campus at the University of Adelaide and the College, meeting teachers and lecturers, selecting subjects and receiving University student cards.
We also had some fun! On Thursday morning our students and their families met some native Australian wildlife – Students got up close with a joey (a baby kangaroo), a sugar glider possum and a frill neck lizard. Please visit our College Photos page for some photos of the event.
Parents Night Shenzhen (January 2008)
In January, Bradford College hosted a Parents night in Shenzhen, China. Over 90 families of future and past students attended the banquet dinner evening. The night gave families an opportunity to find out more about the College and Adelaide and to help them understand what daily life is like for Bradford students.
Bradford College Program Manager Cathy Davies and Student Services Manger Birgit Cramer both gave presentations on the College and living in Adelaide and were able to meet the families and answer any questions they had. The night was invaluable to future students as they were able to meet past students and learn about lots of thing including food, school subjects, public transport and accommodation. Foundation Studies Graduation Ceremony (December 2007)
This week we have been celebrating the achievements of our students. On Wednesday 12th December we held the Foundation Studies graduation ceremony with over 90 students attending and receiving their graduation parchments. This was a wonderful celebration with many proud parents of students coming to Adelaide from overseas to attend the ceremony.
All attendees were entertained by a moving and enjoyable play about climate change put on by the students of the voice and acting class and Principal Anne Field presented inspiring speech for the graduating students.
We awarded 15 subject prizes to the students who achieved the highest mark in their subjects and we were also very proud to award the 2007 Foundation Studies College dux for highest overall mark to Le Duy Thai HUYNH from Vietnam and the second top student was from China - her name is Diana Mo LI. Fast Food Evening (August 2007)
Nearly 200 students attended this night of fun, food and laughs! There was plenty of KFC, pizza and donuts to fill everyone, with lots of soft drink to wash it all down! This was held in the Bradford College common room and after receiving their food, our students sat together and enjoyed each others’ company. It was a night that was thoroughly relished by all – no-one left hungry, the atmosphere was full of good spirits and the College staff had to ask everyone to leave at the end of the evening to clean up! Always a good sign!
Bradford College Graduation (July 2007)
The mid-year Foundation Studies graduation, held on Wednesday 4th July, was an enjoyable event for students and staff alike, and in particular for the 38 students who graduated at the ceremony. In opening the ceremony, the Principal of Bradford College, Anne Field, addressed the graduands with words of advice about how to make the most of their future. A regular feature of the Graduation ceremony each year is a performance by the Voice and Acting classes; this year, the audience was treated to two plays which, as usual, were very entertaining and caused a great deal of laughter! Congratulations must go to the award recipients: Sophie Xiaojia Jin for Most Conscientious Female Student, Leo Choy for Most Conscientious Male Student, and Sheryl Xianting Zhang as Dux of the cohort, and of course to all the graduands of the Foundation Studies program.
Homestay Family Gathering (May 2007)
Approximately 50 of our highly valued homestay family members came together to
share a drink and some nibblies along with precious insights, experiences and
recipes from their time looking after our students. The night was a great
success and further highlighted the greatly appreciated support these families
offer to our students.
English Class Excursion (February 2007)
Our English class recently visited Gorge Wildlife Park to hold the koalas and feed the kangaroos there. They also took a trip to the Toy Factory at Gumeracha including a climb over the largest Rocking Horse in the world and some beautiful nature-filled views.
