General Information
Username and Password. All students are supplied with a username and password. This will allow you to log on to the University network, email and internet. Your username is your student ID number preceded with an "a". Your university student card has your number on it. You will receive your password in a letter from the University. As with all of your passwords, keep it secure. If you forget your password, for security reasons you will need to contact the University Student Centre to change it.
Where can I use computers at Bradford College? There are 3 main computing facilities available at Bradford College: 2 computer laboratories are located on Level 5, 10 Pulteney Street, Adelaide. The 1st room is outside the lifts and the 2nd is at the southern side of the building. We also have a computer room on Level 7, 195 North Terrace, Adelaide which is exclusively for supervised use during lectures and tutorials.
What software is available? There is a range of software available on each machine including Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, Adobe, Quicktime, Flash Player and other subject specific programs.
Information for Students. The University requires all students using their computer network to visit their web page at http://adelaide.edu.au/ITS. Importantly this page contains the policies and procedures that all users of the University of Adelaide's computer resources must comply with.
What online services are available?
Students have access to a range of online services. Go to http://www.adelaide.edu.au/student/current to see just how many services are available to you!
Student Web Mail. Formal correspondence from the University and Bradford College is sent to your university email account so please check it as regularly as possible. Another major benefit in using your student email is that all email sent to this address does not count towards your Internet download quota at the University of Adelaide.
University of Adelaide Library. The Library provides online access to its catalogue, and to a huge range of electronic resources such as electronic databases and indexes, journals, texts and past exam papers. For more information, please visit http://www.library.adelaide.edu.au.
Are there other things I need to know?
Students Under 18. Under the Broadcasting Services Act 1992, students under the age of 18 who require access to the Internet must have consent from a parent or guardian.
How can I use the University online services from home? By configuring your computer and modem to dialup using a Student Dialup Service number, you can access University resources for the cost of a local call and check your email from home, or in fact anywhere that you are in the world.
Wireless Access. Connect to the University network and the Internet via your laptop WITHOUT any cords! Bradford College and the University of Adelaide have wireless access areas. Level 5 (10 Pulteney Street) is an access zone and on the University campus, the zone covers the entire area around the Barr Smith Library, Student Café, Student Union and the lawns. Student Printing. You are allocated a quota of 300 pages for photocopying and printing per semester. To print or photocopy you use a department ID which is your Student Number (as shown on your Student Card) and a unique password provided by the College. If I need to reset my password? Please visit the University Student Centre (Tel – 8303 5208) which is located on campus, next to the post office, for general enquiries and confirmation of your username and password.
