Foundation Studies Curriculum outline
The Bradford Curriculum
The Bradford curriculum for the Foundation Studies program is specifically designed, with the support of the University of Adelaide, to prepare students for success at university. There is flexibility in planning programs to meet individual needs. Students choose their subjects during the first week of classes and will be advised which combination of subjects will allow them to apply for a range of degree programs at university.
English Proficiency
A minimum score on one of the following tests is required for direct entry into the Foundation Studies program:
• IELTS - minimum overall band score of 5.5
(individual band scores cannot be below 5.0)
• TOEFL (paper based) - 525
• TOEFL (computer based) - 195.
In individual cases, Bradford College may assess a student’s English language proficiency by administering the Bradford English test. The College may also accept alternative evidence of an applicant’s English proficiency in individual cases.
Applicants who have an IELTS overall band score of 4.5* or more but do not meet the English Proficiency requirements for direct entry into one of the College’s programs will need to enrol in an English language preparation program at Bradford College prior to commencing their main program. The duration of this program will depend on the applicant’s IELTS, TOEFL or Bradford English test results. Please refer to the English Language program page of this website for information on the College’s English language preparation program.
* Or an equivalent score on an alternative English test.
Note: The Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) requires students from Assessment Level 3 and 4 countries to submit an IELTS test certificate as part of the student visa application process. Applicants should check DIAC’s English language requirements before applying for a student visa (this will vary depending on the applicant’s visa subclass and assessment level).
